Today, in my english class, we were readin Call of the Wild. It is a book about the struggle of a dog who is kidnapped from his southern California home to work as sled dog in the Arctic Circle. He becomes a natural at it as he learns to embrace his feral side.
Reading this book reawakened an old childhood dream of mine (all but forgotten), of one day sled racing with sled dogs. To understand this ambition of mine you might need to learn a little bit more about me.
I have always loved animals, big and small, and my career path is to become a veterinarian but I also like traveling. So, I'm thinking, do I move up there to pursue this, or stay down here and make vacations up to there. Or a compromise of spending time up there to see if I like it enough to move, or not enough so I'd just spend some time in the freezing cold each year.
Its not like I don't have plenty of time to decide, but I can't help but adore the thought of working with a full team of highly intelligent, beautiful dogs on a daily (home-life) basis, rather than one or two. Either way it goes I know I will dedicate my life to helping dogs while owning several of my own. Some of my favorite breeds are the stocky, misunderstood pitbulls, and the lean, wolf-like huskies.
Here I am, rambling, not even knowing if anybody is listening..
